Center for Caucasus Studies at Øresund University

In November 2005, the founding meeting of Center for Caucasus Studies at Øresund University, was opened by Bengt Streiffert, chairman of Øresund University. “Caucasus Studies – a jewel in our crown”, he said during the opening speech.

Center for Caucasus Studies at Øresund University was a joint platform for Danish and Swedish researchers on both sides of the Øresund strait who were interested in the Caucasus region. It was initiated by Karina Vamling (Malmö University) and Märta-Lisa Magnusson (Copenhagen University).

One of the projects supported by Øresund University was the joint development of the online course Conflicts and Conflict Resolution in the Caucasus with an Introduction to Caucasus Studies.

Øresund University closed in 2012, but Caucasus Studies continues at Malmö University (Introduction to Caucasus Studies. and Conflicts and Conflict Resolution in the Caucasus are included as modules of Caucasus Studies).
